I have read less than I would have liked this year due to the hours I have been putting in. Nevertheless, I wanted to review four of the titles I found time to read in 2023 that you might enjoy.

Analog Christian – by Jay Kim (41 notes, 178 pages)

Atheism on Trial – by Mark Lanier (55 notes, 202 pages)

Confronting Christianity – by Rebecca Mclaughlin (76 notes, 226 pages)

Irreversible Damage – by Abigail Shrier (60 notes, 231 pages)

Son of Hamas – by Mosab Hassan Yousef (Audible)

Devotion – by Adam Makos (Audible)

The reference to notes is my note-taking system when I read a book. The more notes I made, the more impactful, relevant, apologetic, or valuable I found the contents. Of course, the size of the book would also make a difference, so I have listed the number of pages. I enjoyed the two Audible books and would recommend them both.

Analog Christian

This was published in 2022 by Jay Kim, a pastor in Silicon Valley.

Kim wrestles with the dangers most Christians are unaware of concerning the technology we are surrounded by daily. Engineered to keep us swiping, social media is all-consuming. Inherent in the algorithms are pitfalls that often outweigh the benefits.

Frances Haugen, a Facebook insider who became a whistleblower, wrote concerning the algorithm, its “engagement-based formula helps sensational content, such as posts that feature rage, hate or misinformation, travel far and wide.”((Kim, Jay. “Kindness and Goodness Instead of Hostility.” Analog Christian, IVP, 2022, pg. 85)) Kim explains comparison and contempt are tools used by the enemy and are inherent in social media.

Before my divorce, I would celebrate the joy and love I felt for my wife on social media. On more than one anniversary, I’ve posted pictures of my wife and how many years we have attained. Bragging rights. After the divorce, social media became a punch in the gut. Every anniversary others posted celebrating their 20th, 25th, 30th, etc., would pour salt in the wound. It never occurred to me my posts would/could have done the same to someone else.

Of course, we should celebrate successful marriages, but the inherent poison of comparison on Social Media is destructive and can be malignant. Kim writes about a time when he and his wife struggled with infertility, “Every pregnancy announcement, be it from a friend or acquaintance, felt like a punch in the stomach. I was unable to genuinely celebrate anything with anyone. All I could do was compare their good fortune to our anguish.”1

Temperature of Hate

Psychologists talk about hot-hate and cool-hate. Hot hate is something we are all familiar with. We have all experienced moments where someone does something blatantly rude, and our tempers flair. Crimes of passion and road rage, not brought under control, are examples of hot-hate.

But another kind of hate, cool-hate, is common in social media and circles of gossip among friends. Based on contempt and disgust, Kim explains people use sarcasm, dismissal, and mockery. It can be, and often is, more damaging than hot-hate. Just ask the family whose child committed suicide because of bullying.

Kim writes, “The apps we use are actually using us. We are not so much the customers as the products. Each search and click provides valuable dates to companies constantly searching for ways to effectively commodify our attention and, more slyly, our addiction. A never-ending loop of comparison, which eventually breeds contempt.”((Kim, Jay. “Kindness and Goodness Instead of Hostility.” Analog Christian, IVP, 2022, pg. 8)) Philippians 4:7

I highly recommend Analog Christian to any family concerned about social media, screen time, and how much time their still-at-home teens their phones.

Atheism On Trial

This was published in 2022 by Mark Lanier, a successful trial lawyer in Houston, Texas, and featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and American Lawyer.

Lanier looks at the rationality of atheism and its coherence in the world as we understand it. He writes, “I am compelled to find answers to big questions that harmonize. I expect consistency. Consistency is the bedrock of logic, science, and sound thinking. I must have consistency.”2

A couple of years ago, I had a conversation with a woman who did not believe in God. She reasoned the complexity and immensity of the universe was beyond what any ‘god’ could create, but manage in any sense of the word.

Of course, she had put God in a box; her mind, and arguably this is true for all of us, cannot truly fathom who God is and what He is capable of.

Richard Dawkins has the same line of thinking in his best-selling book, The God Delusion. Lanier writes, “With all due respect to Richard Dawkins’s brain power, that is not proof there is not God. If the average human brain is a full three pounds of grey matter, and I give Dawkins a brain and a half, still even four and a half pounds of neural and glial cells surely cannot be the standard for determining the makeup of the mind of God.”3

Can an insect, or even a dog or horse, conceive of man building the Golden Gate Bridge or flying from LA to New York? 1 Corinthians 2:9 Romans 11:34

Justice and Fairness

Steven Fry, a graduate of Cambridge and an outspoken atheist, was asked what he would say if he came face to face with God. Fry replied, “I’d say, ‘Bone cancer in children? What’s that about? How dare you? How dare you create a world to which there is such misery that is not our fault? It’s not right, it’s utterly, utterly evil. Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world which is so full of injustice and pain?’ That’s what I would say.”4

What Fry and others need to recognize or accept is the hardwired concept of fairness, justice, and morality. How did this idea come about from natural selection? It didn’t. Lanier asks the same thing, “So where do the concepts come from? If there is a Judeo-Christian God, the answer is easy. If there isn’t, one is hard-pressed to find a source beyond the fascinating electrical synapses of human sacks of chemicals.”5

Lanier points out that the notion of justice and fairness is essential to Fry, but “Consider how this came to be. Should one believe that people have developed a keen sense of justice and fairness through natural selection? That somehow individuals benefit from fair treatment, and that humanity found it comes only if we ensure fairness to society? Perhaps, but that’s a stretch of post hoc analysis.”4

He explains humans don’t want fairness; people want what they want, not what is best for their neighbors. The world doesn’t have a society where the redistribution of wealth comes from the heart of the people, and it never will. Jeremiah 17:9

Confronting Christianity

This was published in 2019 and written by Rebecca Mclaughlin, who holds a Ph.D. in Renaissance literature from Cambridge and a theology degree from Oak Hill College. She is also a former vice president of content at the Veritas Forum.

When it comes to apologetics I have read William Lane Craig, Nancy Pearcey, Doug Powell, Hugh Ross, Kenneth Samples, Frank Turek, John Lennox, R.C. Sproul, Johnathan Morrow, Abdu Murray, J.P. Moreland, Greg Koukl, Tim Keller, C.S. Lewis, Josh and Sean McDowell, Ravi Zacharias, Nabeel Qureshi, Paul Copan and a dozen others who would be considered the heavy hitters in Christian apologetics. All of their books, lectures, and debates have bolstered my faith, but none of their books would I describe as beautifully written. Rebecca Mclaughlin has done just that. Weaving personal experience and exposing vulnerable struggles within herself, she is empathetic to the battles many have.

At the same time, she addresses many of the hard questions Christians may face when having discussions with unbelievers. She gracefully acknowledges the shortcomings of Christians in the past and the harm they have done in the name of Jesus. Mclaughlin then removes the layers of counterarguments without using hyperbole and other inflammatory language, and lays the facts on the table for all to see.

Violent Buddhists?

Concerning religion and violence, she acknowledges the Crusades, as has William Lane Craig and other Christian apologists, though liberal historians have greatly exaggerated the numbers. And few have any doubt about the violence and blood on the hands of martyrs in the name of Islam. However, are there other examples?

In 2018, the New York Times ran an op-ed titled, “Why Are We Surprised When Buddhists Are Violent?” Mclaughlin explains, “The article cites Sri Lanka’s civil war…fueled by ‘specifically Buddhist nationalism’; violence in modern Thailand; violence within the Dalai Lam’s own sect; and a growing body of scholarly literature on the martial complicity of Buddhist institutions in World War II era with Japanese nationalism.”((Mclaughlin, Rebecca. “Doesn’t Religion Cause Violence?” Crossway, 2019, pg. 80)) Mclaughlin explains it is not that Buddhism is inherently violent, but as a religion, it is not free of blood-stained hands; no religion is.

Some of you may have seen the 2016 Martin Scorsese film Silence. Tens of thousands of Christians in the 1700s were executed in horrific ways at the hands of the Shinto-Buddhist government. When we think of the Shinto Shrine, pictures of serene monks meditating, incense softly trailing in the air, and lush green foliage come to mind.

Yet, Christianity and Islam seem to be the center of the target and the examples the media draws attention to.

Rohingya Muslims in Buddhist majority Myanmar have experienced terrible violence at the hands of Buddhist soldiers. Nicholas Kristof writes, “‘Ethnic cleansing’ and even ‘genocide’ are antiseptic and abstract terms. What they mean in the flesh is a soldier grabbing a crying baby girl named Suhaifa by the leg and flinging her into a bonfire.”((Kristof, Nicholas. “Is This Genocide?” New York Times, 15 December 2017, 6 Dec. 2023))

Religion is a Tool

Mao Tse-tung said, “Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed.” Religion has been and will continue to be used as a tool to further the agenda of politicians/dictators whose goal is control and power.

Nazis changed scripture and published bibles to make Jesus a blond-haired, blue-eyed Aryan. Hitler announced, “I can imagine Christ as nothing other than blond and blue eyes, the devil however only with a Jewish grimace.”((Mclaughlin, Rebecca. “Doesn’t Religion Cause Violence?” Crossway, 2019, pg. 83))

Mclaughlin rightly points out human goodness is not innate, and the Bible makes that clear from Genesis to Revelation. “We are not naturally good people who behave badly only if we have been deprived of the proper upbringing, education, or circumstances. Rather, we are innately sinful, veering toward selfishness like a car with a misaligned steering wheel.”((Mclaughlin, Rebecca. “Doesn’t Religion Cause Violence?” Crossway, 2019, pg. 92))

“Staked at the heart of Christianity is a symbol of extreme violence – the brutal, torturous, state-sponsored execution of an innocent man. Christians believe that this execution was orchestrated by God himself. Some argue from this that Christianity glorifies violence. But the meaning of the cross is precisely the opposite. Violence is the use of power by the strong to hurt the weak. At the cross, the most powerful man who ever lived submitted to the most brutal death ever died, to save the powerless. Christianity does not glorify violence. It humiliates it.”((Mclaughlin, Rebecca. “Doesn’t Religion Cause Violence?” Crossway, 2019, pg. 93))

Irreversible Damage

Abigail Shrier writes, “This is a story Americans need to hear. Whether or not you have an adolescent daughter, whether or not your child has fallen for this transgender craze, America has become fertile ground for this mass enthusiasm for reasons that have everything to do with our cultural frailty: parents are undermined; experts are over-relied upon; dissenters in science and medicine are intimidated; free speech truckles under renewed attack… and the desire to escape a dominant identity encourages individuals to take cover in victim groups.((Shrier, Abigail. “Introduction.” Irreversible Damage-The transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Regnery, 2020, pg xxix))

Having raised three daughters and entering the phase of life where I am inclined to mention the joys of grandchildren to strangers, this book hits a home run for those who have serious concerns about the transgender storm and gender-affirming contagion that has overwhelmed our culture.

Girls Becoming Boys

There is no doubt a generation of youth has drunk the Kool-aid and been taught and bullied into believing double mastectomies and puberty blockers are steps girls can take to become men.

Parents and grandparents should be aware and informed about what is being taught at their child’s school. “The ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and GLSEN (formally the “Gay and Lesbian Independent School Teachers Network”) supply curriculum materials. Their members are routinely brought into schools to lecture students on sexual orientation and gender.”((Shrier, Abigail. “Introduction.” Irreversible Damage-The transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Regnery, 2020, pg 64))

If you attend school in a progressive urban city, LA, San Francisco, or New York come to mind. All you need to view is the school district calendar. Pride month? No, it is now a pride year parade, and you better get in line, or you can expect to be ostracized by staff and peers.

The LGBTQ Calendar

October begins with “Coming Out Day,” followed by “International Pronouns Day,” and “LGBTQ History Month”. In November, we find “Transgender Awareness Week” and “Transgender Day of Remembrance,” March is “Transgender Visibility Month,” and April adds “Day of Silence/Day of Action.” May is “Harvey Milk Day,” and June is “Pride Month.”((Shrier, Abigail. “Introduction.” Irreversible Damage-The transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Regnery, 2020, pg 69))

Any educator worth their weight in salt should proactively address any form of bullying. This includes students who identify as LGBTQ or transgender, but the pendulum has swung far and wide of any sensibility or reasonableness.

A better remedy would be to teach all classmates kindness, understanding, compassion, and decency, regardless of their skin color, sexual orientation, political beliefs, or religion. What is a shame is that many students lack those kinds of characteristics, something generally taught at home, but now educators have to spend time reinforcing those virtuous behaviors.

After 25 years of teaching and dealing with parents, the old saying “the apple does not fall far from the tree” holds true. Some never get it; tragically, their children seem to be one train wreck after another, yet it is the teacher’s fault.

The States Solution

Parents are blind to the fact they have acquiesced the raising of their children to the current culture. What is streaming on the big screen? What do they follow on Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter/X? They have unhindered access to smartphones, which suck away their time and bleach their brains.

And the state’s solution? Affirm everything the child feels. Can you imagine a school board mandating everyone wear a pagri (Hindu head wrap), or a panung sash across their torso? Then, they affirm their religion is true and accurate because some Hindu students were teased.

Shrier points out that ‘bullying’ is used as an excuse to indoctrinate youth on gender ideology, and those who are questioning their gender or adopt one of the nearly one hundred labels on the new gender spectrum must be affirmed. The National Education Association (NEA) warns, “The consequences of not affirming a child’s gender identity can be severe, and it can interfere with their ability to develop and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.”((Shrier, Abigail. “Introduction.” Irreversible Damage-The transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Regnery, 2020, pg 71))

Obviously, many parents disagree with this conclusion and are standing up and speaking out to teachers, principals, and school boards. Unfortunately, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) considers it a violation of students’ rights if parents interfere with a student’s gender choices. If a student changes their pronouns from his to hers, the parents have no say, nor are they informed.

Shrier ends her book with some advice for parents.

Don’t get your kid a smartphone.((Nearly every novel problem teenagers face traces itself back to 2007 and the introduction of Steve Jobs’s iPhone. In fact, the explosion in self-harm can be so precisely pinpointed to the introduction of this one device that researchers have little doubt that it is the cause. Shrier, Abigail. “Introduction.” Irreversible Damage-The transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, Regnery, 2020, pg 212))
Don’t relinquish your authority as the parent.
Don’t support gender ideology in your child’s education.
Reintroduce privacy into the home.
Consider big steps to separate your daughter from harm.
Stop pathologizing girlhood.
Don’t be afraid to admit: It’s wonderful to be a girl.

There are three types of books you can learn from: books that encourage you, books that inform you, and books that challenge you. If you don’t read books challenging your status quo, you are simply building a room without doors and windows.

It is easier to perceive error than to find truth, for the former lies on the surface and is easily seen, while the latter lies in the depth, where few are willing to search for it. – Johann von Goethe

Razing of Teen Girls Part II

Razing of Teen Girls Part II

Reading Time: 10 minutes

Above image by Petra from Pixabay

In Part I, I looked at why teen girls have been adopting a gender-ideology worldview and considering for themselves if they could be transgender. Now I want to look at our current culture and where the enormous cultural influencer (public school system) stands on the issue.

A Detransitioner

The California Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Biden administration have stood up and fully backed ‘the gender-affirming care.’ Biden’s Assistant Secretary of Health, Rachel Levine said, “There is no argument among medical professionals – pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, adolescent medicine physicians, adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. – about the value and the importance of gender-affirming care.” She added, “Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard. What if you are going through the wrong puberty?”((efn_note]Christenson, Josh. “Detransitioner tells Congress her ‘childhood was ruined’ by gender reassignment.” New York Post,, 27 July 2023,

Last week Chloe Cole, a detransitioner, spoke to Congress. She is just one of a quickly growing number of women speaking out against the insanity of medical professionals who inject puberty blockers, testosterone, and cut off perfectly healthy breasts of young girls. Cole said, “We need to stop telling 12-year-olds that they were born wrong, that they are right to reject their own bodies and feel uncomfortable with their own skin.((Christenson, Josh. “Detransitioner tells Congress her ‘childhood was ruined’ by gender reassignment.” New York Post,, 27 July 2023,

Cole explained to Congress when she was a girl; she felt uncomfortable when she entered puberty. She even told her parents she wanted to transition to a boy. Cole continued, “We need to stop telling children that puberty is an option. That they can choose what kind of puberty they will go through just [like] they can choose what clothes to wear or music to listen to.”((Christenson, Josh. “Detransitioner tells Congress her ‘childhood was ruined’ by gender reassignment.” New York Post,, 27 July 2023,

She now recognizes the tragic results and life-long irreversible procedures that gender-affirming care delivers. “I speak to you today as a victim of one of the biggest medical scandals in the history of the United States of America,” Cole went on. “I speak to you in the hope that you will have the courage to bring the scandal to an end and ensure that other vulnerable teenagers, children and young adults, don’t go through what I went through.”((Christenson, Josh. “Detransitioner tells Congress her ‘childhood was ruined’ by gender reassignment.” New York Post,, 27 July 2023,

The Sliding Scale

There have always been women who broke the rules of decorum and pushed the boundaries within their culture. Eric Metaxas wrote about several in his book, 7 Women and The Secret Of Their Greatness. Other examples, such as Harriet Tubman, Amelia Airhart, Rosa Parks, and Sally Ride, took on leading roles and stepped up to meet a need in a male-dominated world. Yet none of them considered themselves a man. Sally Ride, a lesbian, kept it a secret, recognizing the significance of being the first woman in space and did not want to subtract from that historic moment.

California, New Jersey, Colorado, and Illinois have mandated LGBTQ history curricula in public schools, and more states will follow. This new agenda speaks to these extraordinary women but in terms that subtract from who they were. Now children learn strong women are not entirely female, but more on the male side of the spectrum.((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 62)) Imagine a sliding scale, 80% female and 20% male, or 60% female and 40% male, etc. The more successful, the more influential, the more noteworthy she is, the more male she is. How does that give credit where credit is due? Women who were leaders, strong, powerful, influential, and trailblazers were more of a man than a woman. Does that help you ladies?

On this sliding scale, girls who excel at math or wrestling would not be what we used to call path-breakers, but they are now considered ‘gender-expressive.’ They should consider their gender beyond ‘just’ female, but something more, male.

Abigail Shrier, the author of Irreversible Damage, writes, “While all this sexual identity politics marches through the front door, a large-scale robbery is taking place: the theft of women’s achievement. The more incredible a woman is, the more barriers she busts through, the more ‘gender nonconforming’ she is deemed to be. In this perverse schema, by definition, the more amazing a woman is, the less she counts as a woman.”((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 62))

Woman Of The Year

But it gets worse. The world was shocked when in 2015, Caitlyn Jenner, formally Bruce Jenner, was namedWoman of the Year by Glamour Magazine.

James Smith, who lost his wife when she rushed into one of the twin towers on 9/11, had something to say about it; frankly, he was livid. Glamour awarded his wife the ‘Woman of the Year Award’ posthumously. As a New York police officer, she had rushed into the twin towers to save who she could and consequently lost her life, bravely trying to save others.

James Smith promptly pulled the award off a shelf, which was to honor his wife, and returned it to Glamour. Smith wrote, “Was there no woman in America, or the rest of the world, more deserving than this man?” Smith wrote. “At a time when we have women in the armed forces fighting and dying for our country, heroic doctors fighting deadly diseases, women police and firefighters putting their lives on the line for total strangers, brave women overcoming life threatening diseases . . . the list of possibilities goes on . . . is this the best you could do?”((Celona, Larry. “Husband of 9/11 hero send back award over Caitlyn Jenner.” New York Post, 15 November 2015, 27 July 2023))

Fast forward, and now we have Lia Thomas nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year. The last season Thomas competed as a member of the men’s team; he was ranked:

  • 554th in the 200 freestyle
  • 65th in the 500 freestyle
  • 32nd in the 1650 freestyle

As transgender swimming against women, Thomas ranked:

It is undeniable making the shift from men’s competition to women’s, made an enormous difference in the success of Thomas, a biological male competing against biological females.

You Can Change Your Race

Of course, if you can change your gender, you should be able to change your race. Do you think I am joking? Thousands of teens are practicing “race change to another” or RCTA. NBC reports, “Practitioners of what they call “race change to another,” or RCTA, purport to be able to manifest physical changes in their appearance and even their genetics to become a different race. They tune in to subliminal videos that claim can give them an ‘East Asian appearance’ or ‘Korean DNA.'”((Tuyetnhi, Emi, T. “Inside the online world of people who think they can change their race.” NBC News, 1 August 2023, 4 August 2023))

One high school girl, Alisa, has been practicing RCTA using ‘subliminals.’ Some creators of this material on TikTok and Youtube have hundreds of thousands of subscribers and millions of views. Alisa claims her vision has cleared, her eyelids have become smaller, and her hair is darker. Alisa said those who practice RCTA are not harming anyone, “We only live once, so I think we should do everything we want to do in life, even if others think it’s not OK or you can’t achieve it.”((Tuyetnhi, Emi, T. “Inside the online world of people who think they can change their race.” NBC News, 1 August 2023, 4 August 2023)) That quote represents the mindset of millions of youth today who have unlimited access to their phones. “…should be able to do everything we want to do in life, even if others think it’s not OK…”

Many experts point out it is impossible to change your race, but others push back and saying race and culture are synonymous.

For example, Kevin Nadal, a professor of psychology at City University of New York, says, “There is a privilege in being able to change your race or to say that you’re changing your race. There are many people who would be unable to ever change their race. Particularly, Black people in this country would be unable to say all of a sudden ‘I’m white’ and be treated with the same privileges that white people have.”((Tuyetnhi, Emi, T. “Inside the online world of people who think they can change their race.” NBC News, 1 August 2023, 4 August 2023))

Early Indoctrination

The California Education Board provides a book for Kindergarten teachers to read to their students. The title is, Who Are You? The Kid’s Guide to Gender Identity by Brook Pessin-Whedbee. The author writes, “Babies can’t talk, so grown-ups make a guess by looking at their bodies. This is the sex assigned to you at birth, male or female.”((Pessin-Whedbee, Brook. Who Are You? The Kid’s Guide to Gender Identity, Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2016))

There is no guessing involved; every adult in the room can clearly see the sex and gender of the infant, but now we are told adults assign their gender and sometimes get it wrong. You would think that after eight years of medical school, the OBGYN could tell the difference between a baby boy and a baby girl.

Teaching twenty years ago, children learned how to line up, share, write their names, color within the lines, and trust adults outside of their families. Now these adults teach them about the sliding scale of gender identity so they can begin to pick their own place on the rainbow spectrum.

Gone are the days of story time when the teacher would read Curious George, Goodnight Moon, Love You Forever, Moo Baa la la la, Rainbow Fish, Dr. Seuss, and countless other titles that never once suggested to a child to consider what their gender is. It is ludicrous to place the topic of gender identity on children that young.

Be Informed

If you are a parent or grandparent of young children, look into what books are in their school library. Ask what books the teachers will read to students during the school year. You should also see if your school district has policies that district personnel can or should keep a student’s transgender status hidden from parents or guardians. And for the locals who read my blog, yes, Sonora HighSonora ElementarySummerville HighSummerville Elementary, and Curtis Creek Elementary, are on the list. If you would like a complete list of California schools, look here

Furthermore, look at your school calendar to see if they celebrate various LGBTQ+ days. There are lots to choose from. October is LGBTQ+ history month which includes ‘Coming Out Day’ and ‘International Pronouns Day.’ November follows with ‘Transgender Awareness Week’ (in case you forget what occurred in October), which includes ‘Transgender Day of Remembrance.’ In March, you will find ‘Transgender Visibility Month and April includes ‘Day of Silence/ Day of Action.’ In May, we find Harvey Milk Day, and finally, we have Pride Month in June to kick off the summer festivities.((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 69))

Seventeen Thousand and Counting

Instruction and persuasion do not end in the first few years of school; it continues into Jr. High and High School. Almost eighteen thousand U.S. schools have policies restricting parents’ knowledge of their child’s decision to consider or pursue a transgender status.

Positive Prevention PLUS is a widely used health curriculum in middle schools that engages gender-identity instruction. Students are encouraged to imagine themselves as a different gender. Teachers ask students what changes in their life would take place. How would they feel being another gender? What would be fun being another gender? These questions and other instruction dovetail into students asking themselves if they are entirely female.((Clark, Kim. Ridley, Christine. Positive Prevention PLUS, LLC, Positive Prevention PLUS, Sexual Health Education for America’s Youth.

Why The Big Push for Pro-LGBTQ+?

There is no doubt that LGBTQ+ students are, and have been, bullied by their peers and teachers, some to the point of suicide.

In 2019 the CDC examined dozens of school districts in 19 states and found higher rates of violence and self-harm by transgender high school students. Other LGBTQ organizations and activist groups confirm the statistics.((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 72))

Teachers who are on the front lines with these students need to be aware and watchful for behavior that would fall into bullying. These students need to know they are loved and appreciated, no matter how they feel and who they think they are. Any student who bullies another student for a difference, be it physical, sexual, religious, or political, should be dealt with immediately.

But when bullying involves a transgender, it falls into a completely different level of consequence. Suppose, for instance, classmates teased a student wearing a Jewish skullcap or yarmulke, pronounced “yamaka.” Typically you would hear from the teacher, “Knock it off. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Do you even know what that hat symbolizes? You have detention. Go to the office. Go see the principal.”

Yet we don’t find schools embedding Jewish beliefs into elementary, Jr. High, and High School curricula. Grades K-12 do not offer instruction on Jewish customs and theologies. Students are not required to believe in Yahweh or study the Old Testament. Nor do students have to participate in and celebrate Pride Month, oh, I mean Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

What Can You Do?

I have read multiple accounts where the health professional told the parent they have two choices. Parents can continue to push back and fight the child’s desire to transition from girl to boy, but if they commit suicide, it is the parent’s fault. The choice? You can have a dead daughter or a healthy boy. This option is called a false dilemma and deceitfully limits the available options.

Teenagers are trying to figure out who they are, and this sudden epidemic (a 1000% increase) of adolescent girls saying they are a boy should alarm anyone with a young girl in their family. Question the narrative, and don’t be bullied into acquiescing to the gender ideology prevalent in our schools.

You are the parent, and *they* are your responsibility. Take what steps you need to extend the timeline of adolescence to adulthood. Most importantly, remove them from their peer group, schools, and online communities that continually point them toward this self-destructive behavior. Cut out the carte blanche access to the smartphone. Some families have taken a sabbatical and traveled for a year. Others have unplugged and moved into a community that shares their values.

These are drastic measures, but not a single family who has found success has regretted making the hard choices to save their daughter from a life of pain and regret.

Not a Flaw

Girls are different; they are not defective boys. When girls, and boys for that matter, go online, they bathe in propaganda. Parents have to get a handle on what their children view and limit their exposure. Coupled with that, have conversations with them about the gender-ideology craze and lay out the facts. Don’t isolate them from what is going on, but innoculate them. Give them facts, candid conversations, and show them the man behind the screen. That way, she can make thoughtful decisions like the scarecrow, be compassionate and understanding like the tin man, and bravely face the culture that will ostracize her for not marching with the wicked witch of the west.

A Season of Destruction

Google “How to inject testosterone by yourself,” and you will get over 3,600,000 hits. Then change it to, “How should girls inject testosterone” and you get almost 57,000,000, almost sixteen times as much.

Gender dysphoria has become a social contagion. In the U.S., between 2016 and 2017, gender surgeries increased by 400%. In the United Kingdom, when looking at the previous decade, the increase was over 4000% for girls seeking gender treatment.1

Dr. Lisa Littman was an ob-gyn and mother of two when she noticed on social media an odd statistic. Several young girls in a small Rhode Island town came out as transgender, and all were within the same friend group. One of her fields of analysis was epidemiology (the study of the distribution of health-related events in populations). Dr. Littman understood the social reasons some teen girls might come out in the current culture as opposed to twenty or thirty years ago, but it does not explain why this spikes significantly within friend groups.

Dr. Littman gave this statistical occurrence the label “rapid-onset gender dysphoria”2, or you may have heard the term “social or peer contagion.”

This fad, fever, trend, craze, and madness have acted like social trends that teens over the decades have been caught up in. Some examples come to mind for those over the age of fifty, Bell-bottoms, Nike shoes, and Hula-Hoops; others can remember Furbys, Beanie Babies, Pokemon, Fifty Shades of Grey, TikTok, and iPhones. Some I’ve listed are harmless, others destructive by nature.

U.S. Surgeon General Warning

Two patterns have emerged when studying this phenomenon of gender dysphoria.

First, the majority of girls who come to realize they have a gender identity that does not fit their biological identity (I am dividing the two for argument’s sake) “have done so after a prolonged period of social media immersion.”3

In May of this year, the U.S. surgeon general warned us of the dangers of social media exposure in young people. NPR reports, “According to the advisory, 95% of teenagers ages 13-17 say they use a social media app and more than a third say they use it ‘almost constantly.’…social media can perpetuate ‘body dissatisfaction, disordered eating behaviors, social comparison, and low self-esteem, especially among adolescent girls.’4

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy pointed out kids feel worse about themselves and their friends when spending time on social media. Furthermore, nearly 50% of adolescents say that social media makes them feel worse bout their body image.4

A Thousand Percent

The most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5) reports gender dysphoria at .005-.014% for males and .002-.003 for females in the U.S. population. For those who struggle with math, out of a thousand, 2 to 3 girls would struggle with gender dysphoria. And those who would actually seek out medical intervention would be less than 1 in 10,000. That statistic has increased by 1000 percent.((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 32))

Let’s put that 1000 percent in perspective and look at this graph. Tragically 45,000 people die per year in the U.S. in auto accidents. If we increased that by 1000%, it would be 450 million a year. In the U.S., 282,043 women were raped or sexually assaulted in 2021. If that were increased by 1000%, it would be over 282 million women raped or sexually assaulted. Finally, in 2020 according to the CDC, 602,347 people died of cancer. If that increased by 1000%, it would be 602,347,000 deaths by cancer.

If any of those above scenarios occurred, the etiology would be extensively researched. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, would be poured into the research to find the cause of a 1000% increase. Blank checks would be handed out to the specialists in those fields. The president and state governors would create special task forces to analyze the cause and cure. All stops would be pulled, and social media would be ablaze with armchair generals postulating their theories. Yet none of this took place with the sudden phenomena of gender dysphoria. Why? Because it morphed into a ‘political’ issue, not a mental health and welfare issue.

Friend Groups

The second pattern of girls who suddenly begin to question their gender identity is within their friend groups. For some groups, it is more than 70 times the expected occurrence. Keep in mind this is happening among groups with no prior history of questioning their gender in adolescence.((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 26)) Couple that with the fact that before 2012 the expected incidence of gender dysphoria was greater with boys two to five time more than girls and now that has completely flipped, exponentially. Furthermore, in 2016 females accounted for 46% of sex reassignment surgeries in the U.S., but just a year later, it was 70%.((2017 Plastic Surgery Report, American Society of Plastic Surgeons,

The pattern is obvious for those who would do some digging. Young girls with a history of anxiety and social struggles would enter high school and join a friend group with ‘transgender’ students. In a short period of time, she announces to friends and family that she may be transgender. Over time their anxiety and depression worsen. Dr. Littman writes, “The daughters ‘became more angry and sullen and hostile to parents.’ The more they suffered dysphoria, the more they pulled away from the people who might help.”((Shrier, Abigail. “The Puzzle.” Irreversible Damage, Regnery Publication, 2021, p. 33))

Humans naturally look for patterns to explain circumstances. Lisa Marchiano is an analyst, social worker, and widely published author who has researched this social contagion. Any ‘avant-garde’ disorder is dismissed or not taken seriously. She explained when we feel psychological distress, we want to be able to label it and fit it into a narrative. Once that is done, then we find a cure.5 Or at least come to understand what the cause is.

An example of this took place in 1994, in Hong Kong. A girl who died from anorexia was widely publicized, and the blame was placed on a Western phenomenon called ‘anorexia.’ Girls in the West were starving themselves, but this was almost unheard of in the East. After that, cases of this emotional disorder became an expression of physiological distress in Hong Kong. Ethan Watters, who wrote on America’s cultural pathogens, explained, “[Only] when anorexia became a culturally agreed-upon expression of internal distress, did it become widespread.”((Watters, Ethan. “Crazy Like Us.” The Globalization of the American Psyche, New York, Simon & Schuster 2010, pgs 32-33))

Keeping Parents Uninformed

Of course, California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, with the full backing of Governor Gaven Newsom, thinks parents should NOT be informed of this life-altering decision. This kind of policy in most public schools is ludicrous. California Education Code requires that any student taking medication during the school day must have a doctor’s written order and parent’s written permission. As a public school teacher, I can’t even give a student an aspirin without serious repercussions, but if they decide to make the life-altering transition to the other sex, parents are to be kept in the dark.

The National Education Association (NEA) recommends that schools use a confidential ‘Gender Support Plan’, which was written by a trans-activist group called Gender Spectrum. This plan asks if parents/guardians support the student’s gender transition. If not, then the parents/guardians are to be excluded and remain uninformed about any further gender-affirming care actions taken by the school.

Governor Gavin Newsom and the state of California fully support this policy. At a recent school board meeting in southern California, Tony Thurmond, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, said, “I come before you as a parent tonight but we can debate all of the laws and all of the policies and practices, I ask you to consider this- that nearly half of students who identify as being LGBTQ+ are considering suicide,”((McEntyre, Nicholas. “California school superintendent booted from district board meeting after opposing new transgender policy.” New York Post, 22 July 2023. 27 July 2023.))

If nearly 1/2 of students who identify as LGBTQ+ are considering suicide, that should tell you something; and who better to advise, comfort, console, and counsel these students than their parents? Yet Tony Thurmond wants to keep parents ignorant so these struggling students can continue to get advice from their peers and the school staff who, in full view, have drank the Kool-aid and want to affirm their new gender.

Thankfully one school district in California has pushed back against policies that keep parents in the dark. The Chino Valley Unified School District policy passed after a significant heat from the state of California. The policy stipulated that parents must be informed if their child expresses a desire to be identified or treated as a gender different from their biological sex, intends to use the bathroom and athletic facilities of the opposite sex, seeks a pronoun or name change, or if there are mental health concerns with the child.

Who would have thought 20 years ago that parents would have to fight for the right to be informed of their child’s mental and physical well-being in the public school system? Not only that, but now parents ‘must listen’ and ‘affirm’ their child’s choice. Gone are the days of Father Knows Best with Robert Young and Jane Wyatt. It has been replaced with Johnny and Susie Know Best, and no questions asked.

Menstrual Equity Act

Menstrual Equity Act

Reading Time: 8 minutes

Menstrual Equity Laws

According to sixty-two menstrual equity laws have been passed in the U.S. in the last eight years.((McConnell, Jamie. “Sixty-Two Menstrual Equity Laws Passed in the United States.” Womens Voices,, 2 May 2022, I first heard menstrual equity I was not sure what the term was referring to. My initial thought was the ‘disadvantaged’ or ‘women of color’ were somehow not receiving the health care that all the rich white folks come to expect.

Imagine my surprise when these new laws, at least in part, had to do with providing feminine hygiene products to men, or I should say to those who identify as men, in the men’s bathroom. What on earth would they use them for? Well, they may identify as men, but biologically they are women because where would a man with a penis, put a tampon? Or is that question off the table? If I understand this correctly, it is it the female sex who is identifying as a male gender who is in need of feminine hygiene products while using the men’s bathroom. Somewhat convoluted isn’t it?

The progressive affirming thinking is, “While there has been progress on the policy front, an area that needs improvement is the language being used in many of laws and bills addressing menstrual equity. Many of them refer to menstrual products as “feminine hygiene” products…when we use the term “feminine” we push people out of the conversation. There are people who use these items who do not identify as women.”((McConnell, Jamie. “Sixty-Two Menstrual Equity Laws Passed in the United States.” Womens Voices,, 2 May 2022,

I understand that. Women who identify as men are still in need of those products because, biologically, they are women. I also understand that there are biological men who identify as women. It makes me wonder why there is no push for urinals in the women’s restroom. I suppose it is because toilets can serve both men and women, and if a man feels his gender is female, he would rather not use a urinal, pointing out the disparity.

Wisdom of the Progressive State

So what are we to do? The California progressive wisdom is to allow individuals to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. Of course, that is a problem if you are a biological woman using the men’s room and it is during your menstruation cycle. So California bill 367 was signed into law on October 8th, 2021 by Governor Newsom. Among other things, it states that in public schools, at least one boys’ bathroom needs to be stocked with menstrual products. At what cost? This bill, introduced by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, is reported to cost up to $800,000.((Seeley, Alice. “CA may spend nearly $1 million on men’s menstrual products.” Campus Reform,, 31 July, 2021,

And now, here in our little Tuolumne County, we are forced to play the games dictated by the state. For example, last month, my school installed sanitary napkin dispensers in the boys’ bathrooms. Well, actually, they may have only installed the dispensers in one boys’ bathroom, but you can see the idiocy of such gender-affirming laws.

In defense of the school administration, they had no choice but to abide by the state laws, but this should be a wake-up call to the direction our state and country are going and has been going for the last several years.

What is next? If a student identifies as a cat, will the state require bathroom litterboxes? If that is ridiculous, then explain the difference to me. If a girl can say she is a boy and be allowed to use the boy’s bathroom, defying all reason, logic, and biology. Why can’t the same identify as a cat, also defying all reason, logic, and biology?

California is not the only state to follow such idiotic policies championed by the progressive left. Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed the Menstrual Dignity Act, which forces taxpayers of that state to shell out hundreds of thousands for tampon dispensers to be installed in boys’ bathrooms. Tony Perkins reports, “Thanks to the Menstrual Dignity Act that just passed, local taxpayers are now on the hook for thousands of new tampon dispensers in boys’ bathrooms. This latest madness, which affects every public school and college in the state, is expected to cost up to $400 a machine.”((Perkins, Tony. “Striving for ‘Menstrual Equity,’ Oregon Puts Tampons in Men’s Bathrooms at Public Schools, Colleges.” The Daily Signal,, 4 May 2022,

Facing the Facts

Gender dysphoria is real. Some ‘feel’ they are male trapped in a female body, and others feel female trapped in a male body, but why assume the body is incorrect? Couldn’t the brain be?

There is nothing to assume at birth; every mother and father for thousands of years need only a glance to see if they have had a son or daughter, a male or female. Yet, now we are told that just looking at the anatomy to determine their sex is ‘assigning’ a child’s gender.

The progressive left in the U.S. is now behind the curve in realizing the dangers of gender-affirming health care, specifically puberty blockers and realignment surgery.

The term ‘gender-affirming health care was not even heard of 10 years ago; now we have the President of the United States, the Governor of California, and others weighing in on this issue that has suddenly taken the cultural spotlight. This condition has become and is a social contagion. If you doubt this, explain how reports and diagnoses of gender dysphoria have increased by 5000 percent in less than ten years!((Montgomery, Jack, “Not Safe: U.K. Health Service Shuts Down Tavistock, Infamous For Child Trans Treatments” Breitbart News, 29 July 2022, 29 October 2022)) What person who can step outside the legacy media spoon feeding, self-indulgent, follow your heart, trust your feelings, montra can be comfortable with those kinds of numbers?

Common Sense on the Horizon

But sometimes, as rare as it has been over the last several years, common sense is beginning to loom over the horizon from the one place you would least expect: Europe.

Shock of all shocks, the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom is pulling the plug on Gender reassignment surgery. Wesley Smith reports in the National Review that most children grow out of the gender confusion stage, and doctors, along with other medical professionals, should consider it a “transient phase.”((Smith, Wesley, J. “NHS Wars Gender Dysphoria in Teens Coluld Be’ Transient Phase.” National Review, October 24 2022, October 29 2022))

The BBC reported the NHS is shutting down Tavistock, the only dedicated gender identity clinic for children and teens.((Andersson, Jasmine. Rhoden-Paul, Andre. “NHS to close Tavistock child gender identity clinic.” BBC, July 28, 2022, October 29, 2022)) Why? For those of us who still understand that only women can have babies and only women can have menstrual periods, the answer is obvious. We have two genders, two sexes and what has taken our culture by storm is, in fact, a ‘Social Contagion.’ It denies basic biology, reason, logic, and common sense.

Susan Evans, a former nurse at the Tavistock Clinic, says there were politics behind the skyrocketing diagnoses. Detection, verification, and prognosis were certainly influenced by culture. Many in the medical profession have reported if you questioned or even hinted at something other than simply affirming the gender dysphoria treatment, you were swimming upstream, if not ostracised. Evans wrote, “The treatment pathway of children with gender dysphoria [was] becoming ever more politicized, and moving away from high standards of clinical mental healthcare with good assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment.”((Zindulka, Kurt. “Trans Specialists Blame’ Toxic Mdeia’ for Creating’ Culture of Fear’ Around Child Genders Services.” Breitbart News, 3 November, 2022. 5 November 2022))

Evidence shows that children who experience gender dysphoria often grow out of it, but if they take pubery blockers or have realignment surgery, they are often scarred for life! The Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine reports, “Childhood-onset gender dysphoria has been shown to have a high rate of natural resolution, with 61%-98% of children reidentifying with their biological sex during puberty.((“Sharp Increase in Incidence of Gender Dysphoria in Children and Young People.” Society For Evidence Base Gender Medicine,, N.D.

The whole ‘gender-affirming care’ stance is beginning to stumble in Europe, and I hope the U.S. will soon follow suit. Nevertheless, keeping in line with the progressive left, President Joe Biden is all in for that kind of treatment and supports reassignment surgery. In a White House Interview by the trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, Biden was asked about banning gender-affirming health care. Biden said, “I don’t think any state or anybody should have a right to do that, as a moral question and as a legal question, I just think it’s wrong.”((Research RNC, [RNC Research] “Joe Biden says ‘it’s wrong’ for states to ban sex reassignment surgery and puberty blockers for kids.” Twitter, October 23, 2022,

California Governor Newsom, who will likely make a white house run in 2024, is no different.((Yurcaba Jo. “California governor signs bill offering legal refuge to transgender youths.” NBC News, September 30 2022, October 29, 2022)) In September Newsom signed a bill offering legal refuge to transgender youths that can’t get treatment in their own states, making California sanctuary state for yet another progressive paragon.

In a Floria ad, Newsome says, “Freedom, it’s under attack in your state. Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors.

I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight. Or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom — freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and the freedom to love,”((Sridhar, Priya. “California Gov. Gavin Newsom Runs Ads in Florida, Raising Questions About Presidential Aspirations.” Associated Press, 5 July, 2022, 5 November, 2022)) It is all about freedom and phrasing it in such a way that if you disagree you are intolerant, bigoted, and hateful. Freedom to have an abortion is called reproductive health care. Freedom for your underage child to have her breasts cut off is called realignment surgery. Freedom to live in California despite being an illegal alien is called a sanctuary.

Too Little Too Late?

Pushing back against the tide that seems to be turning against such treatments are medical practitioners who Tavistock previously employed. Before the clinic was shut down, they were completely supportive of puberty blockers and realignment surgery, such as breast removal. They criticized the use of “…the words’ male’ and ‘female’ calling for them to be relaced with their Newspeak alternatives: ‘assigned (assumed) male at birth (AMAB)’ or ‘assigned (assumed) female at birth (AFAB).'”((Zindulka, Kurt. “Trans Specialists Blame’ Toxic Mdeia’ for Creating’ Culture of Fear’ Around Child Genders Services.” Breitbart News, 3 November, 2022. 5 November 2022)) If the powerhouse, left-leaning news agencies can change the phrasing of the rhetoric and re-educate the masses they will win.

Another example of changing the vocabulary to suit better the progressive agenda you’ll find in the Oregon public school system. In the Oregon student tool kit for teachers, educators are told to use menstruating students instead of girls, menstrual products instead of feminine hygiene products, someone may begin to menstruate instead of girls may begin to menstruate.((Oregon Department of Education, Department of Education. (2022) Menstrual Dignity for Students Toolkit, Oregon Department of Education.))

Change the language, call it progress, dismiss those who disagree, attack their character, and finally move them from the adult table to the children’s room. Our children can look forward to this if they disagree with the cultural narrative. For those of us who can see what is taking place, it is our job to warn them and others before the sanctity of truth is replaced with the sanctity of feelings.

Those who are really convinced that they have made progress in science would not demand freedom for the new views to continue side by side with the old, but the substitution of the new views for the old. – Lenin

Say Goodbye to Mr. Potato Head

Say Goodbye to Mr. Potato Head

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Above image by geri cleveland from Pixabay

Did you know that in an effort to affirm the gender ideology, Hasbro announced in 2021 they would drop the “Mr.” from the title of Mr. Potato Head? Hasbro will no longer use Mr. or Mrs. “It said that an upcoming playset will not feature Mr. and Mrs. designations, allowing kids to create their own potato families with two moms or two dads, a “celebration of the many faces of families.”((Lewis, Sophie. “Mr. Potato Head brand goes gender-neutral, dropping ‘Mr.” title. CBS News,,

Did you know the number of self-identifying trans people is on the rise? If you are over the age of 30 and have been paying attention to the world around you, that should be obvious. In June of 2016, the Williams Institute estimated 1.4 million identified as transgender, doubling from 2006.

Did you know that the risk of suicide is exaggerated to scare parents into complying with the gender ideology? “In the eleven years from 2010 to 2020, four patients under the care of the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) committed suicide, equating to 0.03% of the total.”((“Suicide by Adolescents Referred to the World’s Larget Pediatric Gender Clinic.” SEGM Society For Evidence Based Gender Medicine,, 19 January 2022, The general population ages 14 to 17 was 2.7 percent per 100,000.

Did you know that detransitioners are starting to speak out, but the cries of warnings are being ignored or silenced by the media giants Facebook, Google, Twitter, and TikTok? British detransitioner Allie shares, “I was never diagnosed with gender dysphoria formally. I was never given exploratory therapy [to check for underlying non-gender problems]. There was no mention of sexual trauma, no mention of my upbringing, and how that could have affected things… But now I look back and I’m like, what the hell? I was 18 years old, and they just gave me this shit. It’s crazy… I was like, this is it, this is the answer.”1

Here is what one parent shared on Substack from Parents with Inconvenient Truths, “When we finally were given an appointment at the clinic (it took several months) my son was immediately affirmed, and called by his preferred pronouns and his new name. I was told that, when asked, he had said that he had been suicidal and had thought of harming himself. I didn’t believe this; I was convinced that he had been coached. Of course, the old chestnut ‘would I rather have a live daughter than a dead son?’ was trotted out, though at that stage I didn’t know that this is a story repeatedly told to parents who question the process. I told the doctor at the clinic about my concerns, the suicide of my son’s father when he was four, the depression in his wider family, his ASD. It made not a whit of difference. He received no counseling, just affirmation.”

Did you know a children’s hospital in Oregon offers drugs and surgeries for teens without parental knowledge? They also promote breast binding and genital tucking on their website

Did you know Australia’s largest gender clinic appeals for donations and uses a completely unsubstantiated survey to scare those sympathetic into giving money to support their gender clinic? “The suicide risk figures come from the Telethon Kids Institute’s 2017 Trans Pathways study, an anonymous, online, self-report survey with a non-representative “convenience sample”, meaning there is no firm basis for extrapolating its findings…”((Lane, Bernard. “Suicide’s Spectre.” Gender Clinic News,, 31 March 2022,

Teens who transition are scarred for the rest of their lives, but you rarely hear that side of the story. In the Atlantic article, When Children Say They’re Trans,” Cari Stella transitioned, now 24, socially transitioned at 15, started hormones at 17, got a double mastectomy at 20, and detransitioned at 22. “I’m a real-live 22-year-old woman with a scarred chest and a broken voice and a 5 o’clock shadow because I couldn’t face the idea of growing up to be a woman,” she said in a video posted in August 2016. “I was not a very emotionally stable teenager”((Singal, Jesse, “When Children Say They’re Trans.” The Atlantic,, August 2018,

And other resources, including those produced by major LGBTQ organizations, place emphasis on acceptance rather than inquiry. The Human Rights Campaign’s “Transgender Children & Youth: Understanding the Basics” web page, for example, encourages parents to seek the guidance of a gender specialist. It also asserts that “being transgender is not a phase, and trying to dismiss it as such can be harmful during a time when your child most needs support and validation.”((HRC Foundation, “Transgender Children & Youth: Understanding the Basics.” Human Rights Campaign,, N.D.,

Did you know the Tavistock Clinic in London is shutting down? This clinic has seen thousands of children with gender dysphoria and moved them into transition, which they called “gender-affirming care.” This ‘care’ included puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, surgery, and many other interventions that had irreversible effects. “Over the past three decades, the Gender and Identity Development Service at the Tavistock Clinic in London has seen thousands of British children for gender dysphoria, with a British minister noting a more than 4,000 percent increase of referrals for girls alone in the last decade.”((Davis, Lisa, “The Beginning of the End of ‘Gender-Affirming Care’?” Common Sense,, 30 July 2022,

Did you know in Finland, the Council for Choices in Health Care (COHERE) concluded, “The reliability of the existing studies with no control groups is highly uncertain, and because of this uncertainty, no decisions should be made that can permanently alter a still-maturing minor’s mental and physical development.((The Council for Choices in Health Care in Finland, “Palveluvalikoima.”, 2020,

Did you know there are now 112 genders? Here, as of this writing, it is the most complete list I could find. The New York Times reported one survey estimated 150,000 teens were transgender; now, in 2022, that number has doubled to 300,000.((Ghorayshi, Azeen, “Report Reveals Sharp Rise in Transgender Young People in the U.S.” New York Times,, 10 June 2022, Other estimates I cited above have the rise, not just doubling but increases by the powers of 10.

The left and the Biden administration continue to demand we not only affirm but agree but support this butchering of our youth with no thought to the long-term consequences. The Health and Human Services document released by the Biden administration describes “what it calls appropriate treatments for transgender adolescents, including: ‘Top’ surgery – to create male-typical chest shape or enhance breasts; and ‘Bottom’ surgery – surgery on genitals or reproductive organs, facial feminization or other procedures.”((Nerozzi, Timothy. “Biden administration endorses transgender youth sex-change operations, ‘top surgery,’ hormone therapy.” Fox News,, 31 March 2022,

This post is not meant to devalue or dismiss those who struggle with gender dysphoria. Until the last few years, it has been a rare but authentic struggle for some. Nevertheless, what is happening now within our culture is not the same. Everyone who struggles with this deserves our compassion and respect, but not the ideological movement that is mutilating a generation of youth and destroying families.

Young girls at 13 having double mastectomies to ‘affirm’ how they are feeling is just one example of this horrendous trend that has marched into our culture. It is disgusting and supported by the left. Educate yourself and others about this practice that has scarred a generation of youth. To say I am appalled by this is an understatement. Aren’t you?
